Wonders Park to open gates for public today
Wonders Park in sector 19A, Nerul, is scheduled for opening today. Union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar will inaugurate the park in the presence of Maharashtra minister of state for urban development Bhaskar Jadhav, Thane guardian minister Ganesh Naik, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Vasant Davkhare and other senior officials.
“All the work inside the park like installing the musical fountain and developing a food court and party lawn is over. NCP chief Sharad Pawar has agreed to come. He will attend the fuction at 11am,” mayor Sagar Naik said.
Naik added that preference will be given to locals while allotting job opportunities at Wonders Park.
On the recent spate of allegations by opposition Shiv Sena and Congress members regarding the money spent on shifting high-tension overhead cables near the park, underground, the mayor said, “Opposition will keep on leveling allegations, it is their job.”
Sena and Congress members had raised questions about work on the shifting of cables escalating the project cost to Rs37 crore. Another one crore was contributed by Sanjeev Naik from the MP fund.
Speaking about the e-learning initiative of NMMC, mayor Naik said, “We have already scanned 15,000 books and these will soon be available online. We will also make books available according to the readers’ demands.”
